Over the last few days there has been a great display of the distaste for Stop Online Piracy Bill. Well, finally it looks like they are getting the idea. After shutting down Wikipedia in protest and DDoSing the Federal Governments website the original creator of the bill, Lamar Smith has pulled the bill stating that he has,
“heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy. It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.”
I am happy to hear this news but this doesn’t mean other like it will arise in the future. We need to continue to fight for our freedom on the Internet!
